Brian S. McHugh is an attorney with more than 30 years of experience in dispute resolution at top-rated state-wide and national law firms.
Mr. McHugh was selected to Super Lawyers for 2016 -2020. He has been listed by U.S News and World Report in Best Lawyers in America from 2013-2020 and as Lawyer of the Year, Trusts and Estates, Fort Lauderdale, in 2020. Mr. McHugh is based in the Fort Lauderdale area. He has represented clients in disputes throughout the State of Florida.
Our firm handles all aspects of dispute resolution, including lawsuits, trial, binding arbitration, as well as non-binding mediation and other means of alternative dispute resolution/settlement. Mr. McHugh is also a Florida Supreme Court certified circuit civil mediator. Therefore, our firm is available to act as either an intermediary or advocate in alternative dispute resolution efforts.

Mr. McHugh concentrates his practice in the area of dispute resolution, including litigation and mediation/settlement of commercial, banking, real estate, probate and trust disputes. His client base is diverse and includes trustees, personal representatives of estates, beneficiaries, lenders, developers, landlords, tenants, individuals and businesses.
Mr. McHugh’s experience in these and other areas enables him to advise business and professional clients and individuals in connection with many types of disputes which they generally encounter.
Mr. McHugh is certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit-Civil Mediator. Although he vigorously pursues his clients’ litigation interests, he is sensitive to opportunities to provide Alternative Dispute Resolution to assist clients in reaching a favorable out-of-court settlement where desired.
After completing undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Mr. McHugh received a juris doctor degree from Florida State University College of Law in 1985. Mr. McHugh has been admitted to practice law in the State of Florida since 1985 and is admitted in to practice in the State and Federal Courts in Florida.
